Description
Description: We believe this is a Wayang Golek rod puppet. It has beautiful detail in historical dress -- a cloth costume with gold colored braid and wonderful batik fabric. The hand carved wood head is painted in traditional colors that are purported to hold various meanings in the storytelling. On the back of the puppet head is a brightly painted bird of prey. The head turns freely by manipulating the rod under the dress. The wooden arms are jointed and can be moved using the attached sticks. With the holder rod, the puppet is 24" from bottom of holder rod to top of the head. To display the puppet request either a base, or the normal stage board that holds multiple puppets (neither is included). Prior owner displayed using a bracket affixed to a wall.
