Welcome to our auction Greek painting " Shadow theatre Karagiozis " original DESCRIPTION: This is an authentic, rare and very beautiful folk painting, oil on thick and heavy wood ie, on an old shutter, as used to paint, the famous Theophilos Hadjimichail. It is signed in Greek, lower right and titled up in the center, by the important Greek folk painter Michalis Varelas, (named and modern Theophilos).It depicts some characteristic figures of the shadow theater (Karagiozis), which is one of the ancient types of theatrical spectacle, very popular with young and old alike . Dimensions: 36 Χ 91.5 cm (or 14 2/8 X 36"), thick 2.5 cm (or 1") and weight 3.520 gr. Is in very good condition. It can be hung on the wall as it is without an additional frame.
