Dee Ann Segula "DOG HOUSE" 1990 Whimsical Dancing Dalmatian Wearing a Party Hat in the Dog House The Jumping Jack Dalmatian Dog is an articulated pull string toy - laminate base with grommeted movable joints with clothing and hat made with handmade marbled paper and metal foils, satin pull string with beaded weight. "Dog House" is ready to hang. It is a custom made wooden shadow box house with glass front door / window, handmade marbled paper, signed and dated by the artist on the back. The Jumping Jack or pull toy is a very old toy which has been part of the culture of many countries throughout the world. Its greatest popularity was in the18th century France where the Jumping Jack became a plaything for adults as well as for children. From the traditional model I have developed my own designs using a combination of pewter, plastic laminate, paper, and foils. These light durable materials offer a wide range of color, texture, and pattern. Dee Ann passed away in 2011, Dee was very well known in the art community, known for her innovative spirit and mastery of craftsmanship, she maintained her art career through a serious prolonged illness. Her art work is much sought after and is held in many collections worldwide. Dee Segula's 'Dog House' created in 1990.
